An exciting opening for Accounting Technician/Bookeeper with a well established, progressive Accountancy Practice
Based in Swords, County Dublin, we are a well respected and established Accountancy Practice, who provide Audit & Accounting, Business Advice, Taxation and Outsourced Bookkeeping for a wide range of clients. Our ethos is client focused, service orientated, progressive and innovative. Ideally the successful candidate will have previous bookkeeping experience in an accountancy practice. While continued further studies are not required for this role they will always be encouraged and supported where there is an interest.
Main Role & Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of Bookkeeping Records including Sales, Purchases, Bank
- Preparation of payroll for various clients
- Accurate processing and coding of invoices
- Processing of staff expenses
- Creditors/Debtors/Bank Reconciliations
- Preparing and submission of VAT returns
- PAYE reconciliations
- Preparing and posting month end journals
- Preparation of accounts to trial balance
- Assist in the preparation of audit files
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients
- Other ad-hoc duties as required
Experience & Requirements
- At least 3 years experience in a general accounts role
- Previous experience in a bookkeeping/accounting technician role within an accountancy practice
- Strong knowledge of accounting software
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work to and manage deadlines
- Self motivated with the ability to take ownership on the role

The Job
The key duties of the post are as follows:
- Preparation and review of monthly and end of year accounts for Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies
- Preparation and review of Self-Assessment Tax Returns for Individuals and Partnerships
- Preparation of Corporation Tax Computations for Limited Companies
- Dealing with clients via phone, email and in-person meetings
- Manage, organise and update relevant data using database applications
- Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance
- Plus other duties consistent with the grade as directed.
Ideal candidate experience requirements:
- Fully or part-qualified with appropriate technical qualification and with at least 3 years’ experience in practice
- Recent and relevant experience in a practice environment
- Current working knowledge of Irish tax laws and accounting standards applicable to small and medium sized business
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and computerised accounting systems
- Genuine desire to be a trusted advisor to small business clients, you must have good people skills, and be highly organised.
- You must have a good command of the English language (both spoken and written) as the job involves writing of technical emails to clients
- Any new training will be provided in learning the practice software, however, experience with accounting and tax software such as Relate, Surfaccounts, Britepay, ROS, CORE and DEXT will be an advantage
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: €45,000 – €55,000.00 per year
